About Me
Hello, I'm Jane. For me, every client and every garden is different.
From the initial consultation, it's my aim to understand what my clients need and to make that a reality. I have years of experience working on home refurbishment projects in collaboration with architects, contractors and interior designers to ensure a clear connection in the design language for the house and the garden.
More and more, it's necessary to secure planning approval for the garden as well as the house. I understand the need for sensitive design in conservation areas and for historic homes. My work is also informed by the need to create gardens that can thrive in a frequently unpredictable climate.
How it works
The design process starts with an initial consultation followed by a survey of the existing garden.
This leads to the preparation of concept schemes for discussion with the client.
Sometimes there's one clear winner, and sometimes the garden scheme evolves from a mixture of the initial concepts. Constant communication is everything.
Once the client is happy with the proposed scheme, a specification is drawn up. I have trusted contractors I work with regularly. On a refurbishment project, the garden construction may take many months fitting around the complexities of a larger building scheme.
All the materials we use are sourced with care so they will withstand year-round exposure to the elements.
And planting schemes are tailored to the individual project. Clients will frequently visit nurseries with me to handpick the key structural plants for their garden. I have a small, but highly experienced planting team who ensure everything gets off tho the best possible start.
I love what I do, and I hope that shows in the gardens I have made.
